ph. 707-390-0117
May integrates various therapeutic modalities to support her clients on their journey of growth and healing. She aims to help clients accept where they are in life, understand how they got there, and explore what moving forward in a more authentic and meaningful way looks like for them. May takes a person-centered approach, following her client’s lead as they share their stories and process their experiences. She strives to develop a comfortable and supportive therapeutic alliance with clients in order to create a safe space for them to fully feel and process their emotions. She practices cultural humility while taking into account each clients unique worldview, life experiences, stressors and circumstances. She works with clients to identify their strengths and areas for growth, while building on current coping strategies to support clients in developing tools to better care for themselves emotionally, mentally and physically, acknowledging the intricate connection between these areas of life. May works with clients to cultivate and deepen self-awareness, which can help them gain a deeper understanding of themselves and their patterns. May works to help clients reconnect with their intuition and trust their inner voice. She supports clients in unraveling their past experiences in order to process and heal their pain and traumas so that they are able to live fully in the present and put forth more energy into the future they want to create.
May utilizes Acceptance and Commitment therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Interpersonal Process Therapy and other modalities to help clients get “unstuck” from the current patterns that are not serving their growth. She supports her clients in learning tools to regulate their nervous system and work on emotion regulation in order to reduce distress and navigate life’s stressors from a more balanced place. She takes a holistic approach to counseling and loves integrating mindfulness and nature into her work with client’s when it resonates. She is open to holding sessions in the office, via telehealth or even providing therapy while taking a walk with clients. She has experience with folks in the LGBTQIA+ community, women’s issues, college students, parents, and those healing from sexual &; emotional abuse and intergenerational trauma.
